SBGI is one of the rarest institution that has the advantage of both 371J and rural quota. Article 371J has significantly enhanced educational opportunities in the Kalyana Karnataka region by integrating a rural quota with its special provisions, creating a dual advantage for students from this historically underdeveloped area. Under this amendment, educational institutions including universities and professional colleges in districts like Bidar, Kalaburgi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppala, Vijayanagara and Ballari are mandated to reserve up to 70% of their seats for local students, ensuring greater access to higher education for those who might otherwise be sidelined due to geographic and economic barriers.
The rural quota complements this by prioritizing candidates from rural backgrounds within the region, addressing the unique challenges faced by students from remote areas, such as limited access to quality schooling and resources. This synergy not only boosts enrollment in fields like medicine, engineering and arts but also empowers rural youth with skills and qualifications, fostering a more educated workforce. As a result, Article 371J combined with the rural quota, acts as a transformative tool, leveling the playing field and driving socio-economic progress in Karnataka’s northern hinterlands.

SBGI is dedicated to empowering rural girl children through education.
